This compilation is the key output of the three-year multi-stakeholder “GP20 Initiative” to implement the GP20 Plan of Action for Advancing Prevention, Protection and Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons. It presents insights, lessons, and conclusions from the
GP20’s four priority areas, drawing on 22 case studies shared during the
GP20 Initiative. This includes experiences from implementing profiling exercises in Honduras, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, and Ukraine.
Initiated by the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in 2018, the initiative marked the 20th anniversary of the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement. It focused on four priority areas for strategic, coordinated and collaborative action, to be supported during the Plan of Action, namely: i) IDP participation; ii) national law and policy on internal displacement; iii) data and analysis on internal displacement; and iv) protracted displacement and supporting durable solutions. JIPS has been a member of the GP20 core group since its inception and has strongly engaged in different workstreams as well as GP20 events, such as Steering Group meetings, webinars and regional learning events.
